With electronics being used in ever-widening applications,  the ability of electronics survive in harsh environments is becoming increasingly important.  Recent financial forecasts indicate strong growth for materials used to protect electronics from corrosion.  CALCE corrosion research is focused on 

• Understanding existing corrosion test methods.
• Understanding corrosion protection offered by conformal coatings.
• Understanding corrosion processes related to printed wiring board (PWB) surface finishes.
• Understanding corrosion-induced failures in electronic parts.
