Professor Michael Pecht, Dr. Diganta Das and François Dagorn (Boulevard de l’Université), have co-authored a new article titled, “Managing Electronics Part Changes in the Supply Chain.” The article, published in IEEE Transactions on Components, Packaging and Manufacturing Technology, presents the reasons behind part changes, the methods used internally by good part manufacturers to manage changes, the current industry standards that are focused on change management, and how change notices are propagated through the supply chain. This paper discusses contractual agreements, purchases through contract manufacturers and distributors, and the tracking of purchased parts, with numerous examples and recommendations.

The paper is now available free from IEEE Xplore. No sign up, registration, or fees are required to access this article. Please follow this link for the full article as made available, for free, by the publisher.
