Prof. Jacob Bortman's visit to CALCE in September 2021 marked the beginning of a collaboration between the Researchers at CALCE and Prof. Jacob Bortman's group at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel. This Collaboration led to the recent publication of a novel research article in the journal "Advances in Engineering Informatics."
In his previous visit, Prof. Bortman met with researchers at CALCE working in Prognostics. Prof. Michael Pecht, Dr. Michael Azarian, and Dr. Diganta Das discussed the opportunities for future collaboration with Prof.Bortman's group at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev... Read More.
The researchers at CALCE have benefited from the expertise and knowledge of Prof. Bortman's group, while also contributing their own unique insights to the collaboration. One of the key benefits of this collaboration has been the ability to tackle complex research questions that require expertise from multiple fields. By working together, the researchers at CALCE and Prof. Bortman's group have been able to combine their knowledge in areas such as the development of new efficient algorithms for diagnostics and prognostics of mechanical systems, to produce cutting-edge research that has the potential to make a real-world impact. A clear indicator of the successful collaboration is the recently published article, "One-fault-shot Learning for Fault Severity Estimation of Gears that Addresses Differences between Simulation and Experimental Signals and Transfer Function Effects."
