Clarivate Plc is a British-American analytics company that operates in the areas of bibliometrics and scientometrics. In the academy and the scientific community, Clarivate is known for being the company that calculates the impact factor, using data from its Web of Science product. Clarivate publishes an annual Highly Cited Researchers list. The list compiles the world's most influential researchers of the past decade, demonstrated by the production of multiple highly-cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in Web of Science. According to Clarivate, researchers are selected for their "exceptional performance" in one or more of 21 Clarivate-recognized areas of research. Prof. Michael Pecht, of CALCE, University of Maryland, is recognized as a highly cited researcher this year.
