Abstract: Government Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) is a cooperative activity between government and industry participants seeking to reduce or eliminate expenditures of resources by sharing technical information. Since 1959, over $2.1 BILLION in prevention of unplanned expenditures has been reported. It is a general consensus within industry that obsolescence has led to the advent of counterfeiting. GIDEP will utilize its “Batch-Match” tool to investigate probable relationships between obsolescence and counterfeiting. Further, GIDEP will analyze these relationships, and provide some guidelines that may assist users in envisioning future counterfeiting trends, during a product life-cycle.
