Latest Developments of Anti-Counterfeit Aerospace Standards

Jim Creiman [SAE International]

Abstract:

SAE International has recently published significant revisions to anti-counterfeit aerospace standards: AS5553 revision E for electrical, electronic, and electromechanical (EEE) parts and AS6174 revision B for non-EEE materiel. These standards are commonly required by aerospace and defense customers. AS5553 and AS6174 are also frequently self-adopted by organizations that sell high-performance products.
This presentation will describe the contents of AS5553E and AS6174B and explain recent changes. The presentation will also summarize ongoing development of associated anti-counterfeit documents, such as new AS9970 for COTS EEE assemblies and AS7492 for batteries.
