Dr. Lingxi Kong (Ph.D., University of Maryland, 2023) is a research associate at the CALCE Battery Team at the University of Maryland. He earned a B.Eng. degree in material molding and control engineering from Sichuan University, Chengdu, China, in 2013, followed by an M.Eng. degree in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, USA, in 2015. In 2023, he obtained a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA. Dr. Kong's expertise lies in the physics of failure-based failure analysis, specifically in lithium-ion batteries. He specializes in the in-situ investigation of lithium dendrite growth and its interactions with a polymer separator in a lithium metal cell. He specializes in battery supply chain, safety and protection devices, and lithium-ion battery testing.
