Jim Creiman [Northrop Grumman Corporation]

Tuesday, June 27th - 1:00 pm

Abstract:

SAE International published AS6081 revision A in April 2023. This standard provides requirements for entities performing independent distribution to mitigate the risk of obtaining and furnishing counterfeit electrical, electronic, and electromechanical parts. AS6081A requirements address multiple factors which influence counterfeit risk, such as policies and procedures, supplier approval, part traceability, material control, and authenticity verification. The standard also contains guidance for supplier assessment, source selection, contract flow down, and personnel training. This presentation will summarize the standard, identify key changes since the original version of AS6081 was released in 2012, and explain reasons for those modifications.
