On October 27th, a Research Team from Missouri University of Science and Technology led by Professor Guang Xu visited CALCE. Dr. Xu was accompanied by his Ph.D. students Aamir Iqbal, Mirza Zaid, Oluwafemi Salami, and Nana Amoah, accompanying them was also Dr. Robert Pushpara, a Post Doctoral Researcher working with Dr. Xu.

Dr. Guang Xu is an Associate Professor at Missouri S&T. He earned his bachelor's degree at the China University of Mining and Technology, and Ph.D. at Virginia Tech, all in Mining Engineering. Before joining MST, he worked 6 years as a faculty at Curtin University. Dr. Xu has expertise in mine ventilation and safety, dust and DPM control, and underground battery vehicle firefighting techniques. He has contributed significantly to the broader scientific and professional community by acting as a member of the organizing committee, the vice chairperson and session chair for the Australian Mine Ventilation Conference, and the session chair for the 2018 International Mine Ventilation Congress.

Dr. Guang Xu leads a research group called Mine Ventilation, Health and Safety Research Group and famously known as the VSH lab at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T). The research group focuses on mine ventilation, health, and safety-related issues, and has the ability to conduct multidisciplinary, fundamental, and applied research. It has a comprehensive particle analysis and mine ventilation laboratory capable of undertaking robust experiments required in various research areas.

Dr. Guang Xu and his team will be collaborating with CALCE researchers to bring scientific advancements in research areas like Battery Safety, Battery Fire Prevention, and Managing fallouts from Battery fires.
