Dr. Khan is an associate professor of electrical engineering at Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Pakistan. SBASSE is the first private research-focused science and engineering school in Pakistan and stands out as one of the region’s top schools. Like CALCE, SBASSE practices a no-boundaries philosophy, which encourages cross-disciplinary collaborations. The school’s impressive scholars and global collaborations make it a great partner in furthering battery research.

Dr. Khan is the director of the Energy and Power Systems Lab and a founding member of the LUMS Energy Institute. His research areas include Offgrid electrification, Rooftop solar PV integration with power grids, Pakistan’s power sector transformation to a competitive market from Govt. owned single buyer regime, and the In-service operation of smartphones for smartphones battery life assessment.

While at CALCE, Dr. Khan will a) work on smart and reliable storage for a wide range of applications including electric vehicles and smartphones, b) develop models for viable electrical storage models for higher renewable energy penetration in power grids for green transition c) research on viable methods for circularity/recyclability of Li-ion storage.
