Abstract: Cyberattacks can have an impact on business that is comparable to natural disasters, but differ in that it is not easy to find, or understand damage caused by malicious intent. At first glance, an infected device may behave normally. There again, devices that are It is therefore difficult to grasp the extent of damage caused by a breach of cybersecurity-related to manufacturing.
Though traditional cybersecurity is focused on the IT network, cyberattacks in manufacturing mainly originated in the shop-floor (OT) network, which until now, has received relatively little consideration for security. We are currently working at IPC to materialize a standard that defines actions to be taken, specifically related to the OT network. Before production is performed, it is necessary to make a list of the potential targets for attack, identifying data that affects the outcome of a manufactured product in any way, followed by conducting detailed impact analysis, and then, continuous monitoring of the points.
When considering detection-response-recovery, the key issue is how to quickly communicate any successful incidents throughout the supply chain. The focus is therefore to have a simple, secure, and effective mechanism for transmission of key information in real-time, rather than rely on traceability for post-event analysis.
This presentation will introduce this initiative, indicating how this standard contributes directly to the avoidance of counterfeit products entering the market.
