Emerging Threats in Counterfeit Electronic Components and Countermeasures

Abstract: 

Electronic components counterfeiting is becoming increasingly more sophisticated due to the prevalence of difficult-to-detect cloned parts. This talk will discuss the evolution of the counterfeit electronic parts threat from simple remarked parts to advanced clones, the risk that counterfeit electronic parts present to critical infrastructure, and advanced techniques and countermeasures being deployed to identify and mitigate the proliferation of counterfeit electronic parts across critical supply chains supporting military, aerospace, transportation, communications, energy and medical applications.

Michael Schwarm [SMT Corp.]

Michael Schwarm is an accomplished professional with a wealth of experience in leadership roles within the defense and commercial sectors. Currently serving as the Chief Growth Officer at Certify Holdings, he plays a pivotal role in driving the company's growth strategy. Prior to this, Michael held the position of Vice President of Sales & Marketing at SMT Corp, where he contributed to the organization's success for two years.

His extensive career includes serving as the Executive Vice President of Global Sales & Marketing at API Technologies Corp, where he led a sizable organization across multiple locations, delivering microwave and microelectronics components for defense and commercial applications. Michael's skills encompass various facets such as Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Radio Frequency (RF), leadership, radar, sales operations, and organizational development.

In previous roles, including Vice President at Antenna Research Associates, Inc., Business Unit Vice President & General Manager at Leonardo DRS, and Sr. Director at BAE Systems, Michael demonstrated a consistent track record of achieving profitability, strategic planning, and fostering organizational growth. His expertise extends to areas such as system architecture, optical imaging, ISR, antennas, space systems, electronic warfare, and program management. Throughout his career, Michael Schwarm has been recognized for his contributions to the industry, bringing a wealth of skills and experience to each leadership position he undertakes.
